What People are Saying

When I was first diagnosed with PD in 2014, the neurologist told me I needed to start exercising. I started an exercise routine back then and have continued exercising. After moving from Virginia to Stamford, Connecticut in 2019, I learned about the exercise classes for people with PD offered at the Greenwich YMCA. I am now taking four, virtual exercise classes through the Y: Rock Steady Boxing, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Neuromuscular Integrative Action (NIA) Dance. In every class, the instructor is aware of
my mobility issues and makes adjustments for me.

Today, this group has grown to almost 500 members. Read more...
When I joined Shakers Anonymous and discovered Parkinson's Body and Mind I knew I had found the support I needed.
I now have a very special group of people who understand and empathize with me, help guide me through all the exercise and wellness programs that are offered and I have found what is right for me.
There are meetings and speakers and many opportunities to engage with others, and participating in the Parkinson's Body and Mind programs, group meetings and exercise programs is just the best!
The camaraderie is wonderful; we share knowledge and help each other and even provide for our care partners’ needs through their own meetings.
I am so happy to have connected with this wonderful team!
